Everything from South Africa

South Africa is located at the southern tip of the African continent. It features diverse landscapes including savannas, deserts, and a long coastline. The country has a population of approximately 60 million people, making it one of the most populous countries on the continent. The capital cities are Pretoria (administrative), Cape Town (legislative), and Bloemfontein (judicial). South Africa’s history is marked by the apartheid era. This was a system of institutionalised racial segregation that ended in 1994 with the election of Nelson Mandela.

Today, it is a parliamentary republic known as the “Rainbow Nation” for its cultural diversity. The economy is the most developed in Africa, with strong mining, manufacturing, and tourism sectors. South Africa is famous for its wildlife, wine regions, and being the only country to have hosted the Soccer, Cricket, and Rugby World Cups.

South Africa is a country in the region Sandalsand has defined as the Middle East and Africa. There are introductions to this region and other regions in the Destinations menu.
