Everything from Zambia

Zambia is a landlocked country in southern Africa, known for its rugged terrain and numerous wildlife-rich parks. It has a population of approximately 20 million. The capital, Lusaka, is the country’s largest city. A major geographic feature is the Zambezi River, which forms the border with Zimbabwe and is home to the spectacular Victoria Falls. Formerly the British protectorate of Northern Rhodesia, Zambia gained independence in 1964.

It is a stable republic whose economy has long been dependent on copper mining. In recent years, it has faced economic challenges and debt distress. Zambia is a premier safari destination, famous for its walking safaris in South Luangwa National Park, the Victoria Falls (one of the Seven Natural Wonders), and its friendly people.

Zambia is a country in the region Sandalsand has defined as the Middle East and Africa. There are introductions to this region and other regions in the Destinations menu.
