Everything from Austria
Austria is a landlocked country in Central Europe. It borders Germany, Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Italy, and Switzerland. Its geography is dominated by the Alps in the west and south. The Danube River flows across its eastern plains. Austria was for centuries the centre of the Habsburg Monarchy and later the Austro-Hungarian Empire. This was a major European power until its collapse in 1918.
Today, Austria is a democratic republic and member of the European Union. The country has a population of around 9 million and is renowned for high living standards, cultural heritage, and alpine landscapes. The capital city, Vienna, is internationally recognized for its historic architecture, operas, and as a hub of diplomacy, hosting major international organizations. Other cities like Salzburg and Innsbruck highlight Austria’s cultural richness and alpine traditions.
Austria is a country in the region Sandalsand has defined as North and Central Europe. There are introductions to this region and other regions in the Destinations menu.
