Everything from Bulgaria

Bulgaria is a Southeastern European country on the Balkan Peninsula, bordered by Romania, Serbia, North Macedonia, Greece, Türkiye, and the Black Sea. Its geography includes the Balkan Mountains, Thracian plains, and Black Sea coast. Bulgaria has a long history, from ancient Thracian civilisations and Roman provinces to the First and Second Bulgarian Empires, which were powerful medieval states. Later centuries brought Ottoman rule until independence in 1908. After World War II, Bulgaria was part of the Eastern Bloc under communist rule, transitioning to democracy in 1989.

Today, its population is about 6.4 million. The capital, Sofia, lies at the foot of Mount Vitosha and is the country’s political, cultural, and economic hub. Bulgaria is a member of the European Union and NATO, known for its folklore, Orthodox traditions, and historic sites such as Plovdiv, Rila Monastery, and Veliko Tarnovo.
