Everything from Vatican

Vatican City, officially the Vatican City State, is the world’s smallest independent state, both by area and population. It is an enclave within Rome, Italy, with a population of around 800 people, mainly clergy and the Swiss Guard. The capital is Vatican City itself. It is the spiritual and administrative centre of the Roman Catholic Church, headed by the Pope. Its history is intertwined with the Papal States and the Lateran Treaty of 1929, which established its sovereignty.

The Vatican is a metonym for the Holy See, which is the central governing body of the Catholic Church and Vatican City, comprising the pope and the Roman Curia.

The economy is unique, supported by museum admissions, postage stamps, and donations. The city is renowned for its immense cultural and religious significance, housing St. Peter’s Basilica, the Sistine Chapel with Michelangelo’s ceiling, and vast collections of art and historical artefacts.
