This is a collection of pictures from Slovakia. They are basically the result of a visit back in 1990 on an Interrail, and a recent one in 2019 to Bratislava, the capital.
If you look up my articles from Slovakia, you will also find a World Heritage Site and a regular travelogue. Before you do, start with these pictures from Slovakia.
Have a look at these photographic impressions from a few days in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. It has a very pleasant and well preserved old town.
This gallery is one of six with photos from a four week Interrail mostly in Eastern Europe. This picture gallery covers present-day Slovakia, then called Czechoslovakia.
Afterwards, find all photo galleries on Sandalsand.
Learn about the country on Wikipedia. Here is an excerpt:
Slovakia is a landlocked country in Central Europe. It borders Poland to the north, Ukraine to the east, Hungary to the south, Austria to the southwest, and the Czech Republic to the northwest. Slovakia’s mostly mountainous territory spans about 49,000 square kilometres, with a population of over 5.4 million. The capital and largest city is Bratislava, while the second largest city is Košice.
Slovakia is a developed country with an advanced high-income economy, ranking very high in the Human Development Index. It also performs favourably in measurements of civil liberties, press freedom, internet freedom, democratic governance, and peacefulness. The country maintains a combination of a market economy with a comprehensive social security system, providing citizens with a universal health care, free education, and one of the longest paid parental leaves in the OECD.
Slovakia is also home to eight UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
