Everything from Cyprus

Cyprus is an island nation in the eastern Mediterranean, located south of Türkiye and west of Syria and Lebanon. Its landscape includes mountains, plains, and extensive coastlines. With a strategic location, Cyprus has been influenced by Greek, Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman civilisations. It gained independence from Britain in 1960, but political division followed in 1974, splitting the island between the Greek Cypriot south and the Turkish Cypriot north.

Today, Cyprus has about 1.2 million inhabitants. The capital, Nicosia, remains divided but serves as the cultural and political hub. Cyprus is a member of the European Union and uses the euro. The country is known for its rich archaeological sites, Mediterranean cuisine, and tourist resorts along the southern coast, such as Limassol and Paphos.

Cyprus is a (divided) country in the region Sandalsand has defined as the Middle East and Africa. There are introductions to this region and other regions in the Destinations menu.
