Everything from Liechtenstein

Liechtenstein is a tiny, doubly landlocked Alpine principality nestled between Switzerland and Austria. It is one of the world’s smallest countries, with a population of just around 39,000. The capital is Vaduz, a town dominated by the castle of the reigning prince. The country’s terrain is defined by the Rhine River valley in the west and the rugged Alps in the east. Historically, Liechtenstein was formed in 1719 and gained sovereignty after the dissolution of the Holy Roman Empire in 1806.

Today, it is a constitutional monarchy with a powerful prince and is known for its highly developed, industrialised economy. Despite its size, it boasts a very high standard of living, a strong financial sector, and status as a tax haven, attracting many registered businesses.

Liechtenstein is a country in the region Sandalsand has defined as North and Central Europe. There are introductions to this region and other regions in the Destinations menu.
