Everything from Slovakia

Slovakia is a landlocked country in Central Europe, bordered by the Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, Ukraine, and Poland. The Carpathian Mountains dominate its landscape, which includes the High Tatras range popular for skiing and hiking. The population is about 5.4 million. The capital, Bratislava, lies on the Danube River near the borders with Austria and Hungary. Slovakia was part of Czechoslovakia until the peaceful “Velvet Divorce” in 1993.

An EU and eurozone member since 2004, its economy is heavily industrialised, particularly in automotive manufacturing. Often called the “Tatra Tiger” for its post-independence economic growth, Slovakia is known for its numerous castles, medieval towns, and extensive cave systems.
