It shares the Scandinavian Peninsula with Sweden and has a population of approximately 5.5 million. The capital, Oslo, is a modern city surrounded by forests and fjords. Norway’s history is rooted in the Viking Age, and it was later part of a union with Denmark and then Sweden before gaining full independence in 1905.
Today, it is a constitutional monarchy with a strong welfare state. Although not an EU member, it is closely associated through the EEA. Norway possesses one of the world’s largest sovereign wealth funds, financed by its extensive oil and gas reserves. The country is renowned for its stunning natural beauty, high standard of living, and commitment to sustainability.
